WHO/WHAT IS CONTROL . BURN ???

'Control . Burn' is a collective of artists interested in working with fire in the creation of ephemeral works of art. It was formed in 1998 by a group of artists who share a common interest in the possibility of creating "threshold" situations using the play of flame, heat and light in the darkness as a means of creative expression.

Individually, the artists involved in this collective have a history of creating large-scale, outdoor works using temporary natural mediums such as snow, sand and fire and plants (in large-scale crop works). As a collective, we have come together to focus on the creative use of fire as the most volatile, aggressive and poetically evocative of natural mediums.

The founding members of CONTROL . BURN are Denis Bolohon, Ed Janzen and Wayne Tousignant.
